"To be" in Turkish is not a proper verb, but rather adds a suffix to the thing that the subject is "being". This suffix depends on the subject and 2- or 4-way vowel harmony denoted by A and I respectively:

Pronoun Ending Example: mutlu
ben -(y)Im mutluyum
sen -sIn mutlusun
o -dIr or nothing mutludur/mutlu
biz -(y)Iz mutluyuz
siz -sInIz mutlusunuz
onlar dIr or nothing (with onlar) or lAr or dInlAr onlar mutludur/mutlu or mutlular/mutludunlar
