As of June 2021, the Duolingo team consisted of more than 400 individuals across 4 offices.[1] Most staff fall under the categories of software engineering, people & finance, product management, design, learning science, marketing, and business development.[2] Employees come from more than 30 countries and speak more than 30 languages.[2] In 2019, Duolingo announced a goal to build a more diverse team, with 50% female representation and 50% people of color representation [3]. The most recent number is 40% women and 60% men.[2]
Organization[]
On November 2013, the team was divided according to the following breakdown: "12 people working on improving the learning experience, 3 on improving the apps, 2 on the Incubator (new languages), and one whose job it is to improve the real-world translations."[4]
Administrators[]
Administrators (Admins) are Duolingo staff members. Like moderators, they have a ring around their profile picture, however it is a blue ring with a star in the bottom right.
