ученик/студент[]
A студент is a university level student, while ученик is a pupil or a student in a non-university sense.
Studying[]
Учиться is the verb "to study," and it's reflexive (the little -ься at the end shows this). It refers to studying and studying only! "To learn" is another verb, and we'll get to that one later.
