Lesson 1[]

  • オートバイ (oo-to-ba-i) = motorcycle
  • 新幹線 (shin-kan-sen) = Shinkansen/bullet train
  • 一時間に三百キロ進みます (i-chi-ji-kan ni san-bya-ku-ki-ro su-su-mi-ma-su) = goes 300 kilometers an hour
  • (ga-wa) = side
  • ホーム (hō-mu) = platform
  • 切符売り場 (kip-pu-u-ri-ba) = ticket booth
  • 売ります (u-ri-ma-su) = sell

Lesson 2[]

  • 急行 (kyū-kō) = express train
  • 出発 (shup-pa-tsu) = departure
  • 到着 (tō-cha-ku) = arrival
  • (sen) = track/line
  • 終点 (shū-ten) = the last/final stop
  • ゆき (yu-ki) = bound for
  • 用意 (yō-i) = preparation

Lesson 3[]

  • 空港 (kū-kō) = airport
  • 途中に (to-chuu-ni) = on the way/ en route (とちゅう)
  • 行き掛け (i-ki-ga-ke) = on the way
  • に行く途中 (ni-i-ku to-chū) = on the way to
  • 試合の途中で (shi-ai-no to-chū-de) = In the middle of the match
  • 試合 (shi-ai) = match
  • 車両 (sha-ryō) = vehicle (train car)
  • (se-ki) = seats
  • 拾う (hiro-u) = (v5u,vt) to pick up; to find; to gather; (ろう)
  • 拾った (hi-rot-ta) = picked up
  • に拾ってあげる (hi-rot-te a-ge-ru) = I'll pick (it) up
  • 乗り換えます (no-ri-ka-e-masu) = transfer
  • 降り出す (fu-ri-da-su) = (v5s,vi) to begin to rain; to begin to snow (りだす)
  • 降り出した (fu-ri-da-shi-ta) = got down
  • どこか教えていただけませんか (do-ko-ka o-shi-e-te-i-ta-da-ke-ma-sen ka) = would you mind teaching/telling me where
  • あそこの交差点まで行った方がいい (a-so-ko-no-kō-sa-ten-ma-de it-ta-hō-ga-ii) = you should go to the intersection over there

Lesson 4[]

  • 女性 (jo-sei) = women
  • お年寄り (o-to-shi-yo-ri) = the elderly; old people
  • 専用 (sen-yō) = designated; reserved
  • 女性専用車両 (jo-sei-sen-you-sha-ryou) = women-only carriage (e.g. on a train) (じょせいせんようしゃりょう)
  • あなたの最も好きな色 (a-na-ta-no-mo-tto-mo-su-ki-na-shoku) = your favorite color

Lesson 5[]

  • 男性 (dan-sei) = men
  • 駐車 (chū-sha) = parking (noun) (ちゅうしゃ)
  • 駐車場 (chū-sha-jō) = car park/parking lot
  • 乗り換える (no-ri-ka-e-ru) = (v1,vt) (1) to transfer (trains); to change (bus, train); (りかえ)
  • に乗り換えた (ni-no-ri-ka-e-ta) = transferred to
  • 背の高い (se-no-taka-i) = tall (of a person) (せのたかい)
  • 門のそばに (mon-no-so-ba-ni) = by the gate
  • 別の (be-tsu no) = another
  • できるだけ (de-ki-ru-da-ke) = as much as one can; as much as possible; if at all possible; (出来るだけ)
  • できるだけ ... (de-ki-ru-da-ke-...) = as ... as possible
  • 空いてる (ai-te-ru) = available
  • 手が空く (te-ga-a-ku) = (exp,v5k) (id) to be free; to be available (てがあく)
  • 手が空いたら (te-ga-ai-ta-ra) = when your hands are free
  • 手伝う (te-tsuda-u) = (v5u,vt) (1) to help; to assist; to aid; (てつだう)
  • 手伝ってくれませんか (te-tsu-dat-te ku-re-ma-sen-ka) = Will you help me / would you mind helping me

Lesson 6[]

  • エンジン (en-jin) = engine
  • 裏 (u-ra) = rear; back; behind; (うら)
  • 信号 (shin-gō) = traffic light
  • 進んだ (su-sun-da) = advanced
  • の裏に (no u-ra ni) = behind/the back of
  • 封筒 (fū-tō) = envelope
  • 無料です (mu-ryō-de-su) = free
  • (tsu-no) = corner}
  • 右に曲がる (migi-ni-ma-ga-ru) = (exp,v5r) to turn right; to turn to the right (みぎにまがる)
  • 左に曲がる (hidari-ni-ma-ga-ru) = (exp,v5r) to turn left; to turn to the left (ひだりにまがる)
  • 壊れた (ko-wa-re-ta) = broke

Lesson 7[]

  • 空港 (kū-kō) = airport
  • (fu-ne) = ship
  • (mi-na-to) = port/ports/harbour/harbours
  • 乗り物 (no-ri-mo-no) = vehicle
  • 歩道で (ho-dō-de) = on the sidewalk
  • 運んでください (ha-kon-de-ku-da-sai) = please carry
  • 運ぶ (ha-ko-bu) = to carry
  • 運んでくれた (ha-kon-de-ku-re-ta) = carried for me
  • 乗客 (jō-kya-ku) = passenger/passengers
  • 要ります (i-ri-ma-su) = I need
  • 重すぎた (o-mo-su-gi-ta) = was too heavy
  • 私にとって (wa-ta-shi-ni-tot-te) = for me, as for me, to me
  • かばんは一人で運べます (ka-ban-wa-hi-to-ri-de-ha-ko-be-ma-su) = I can carry the bag by myself
  • ちょっと重いけど (cho-tto-o-mo-i-ke-do) = It's a bit heavy
  • 運ぶには重すぎた (ha-ko-bu-ni-wa-o-mo-su-gi-ta) was too heavy to carry
