Geography is the 90th skill (assuming read left to right) in the Japanese language course. It has 7 lessons.

Lesson 1[]

砂 (su-na) = sand
大陸 (tai-ri-ku) = continent
横断するの (ō-dan-su-ru-no) = the act of crossing (of a road)
日本海 (ni-hon-kai) = the Sea of Japan
暮らしている (ku-ra-shi-te-i-ru) = I live
...と離れて暮らしている (...-to-ha-na-re-te-ku-ra-shi-te-i-ru) = I live away from ... ("..away with")
君と離れては暮らせない。(ki-mi-to-ha-na-re-te-wa-ku-ra-se-nai) = I cannot live apart from you.
彼女の言葉が頭から離れない。(ka-no-jo-no-ko-to-ba-ga-a-ta-ma-ka-ra-ha-na-re-nai) = Her words will not leave my mind.

Lesson 2[]

方向 (hō-kō) = direction (from kanji, "the method of getting over there")
火山 (ka-zan) = volcano (from kanji, "fire mountain")
噴火した (fun-ka-shi-ta) = erupted
活火山 (katsu-ka-zan / ka-kka-zan) = active volcano
太平洋 (tai-hei-yō) = the Pacific Ocean
ハワイは太平洋にある。(ha-wa-i-wa-tai-hei-you-ni-a-ru) = Hawaii is in the Pacific Ocean. ("Hawaii exists at the Pacific Ocean.")
火山は突然噴火して、多くの人が亡くなりました。 (ka-zan-wa-to-tsu-zen-fun-ka-shi-te-ou-ku-no-hi-to-ga-na-ku-na-ri-ma-shi-ta) = The volcano erupted suddenly, and many people passed away.
列島 (re-ttō) = archipelago

Lesson 3[]

...の大部分 (...-no-dai-bu-bun) = most of ...
砂漠 (sa-ba-ku) = desert
表面 (hyō-men) = superficial
彼の優しさは表面だけです。(ka-re-no-ya-sa-shi-sa-wa-hyō-men-da-ke-de-su) = His kindness is only a pretense / is only superficial.
陸地 (ri-ku-chi) = land
陸地はどこにも見えなかった。(ri-ku-chi-wa-do-ko-ni-mo-mi-e-na-ka-tta) = I could not see land anywhere.

Lesson 4[]

丘 (o-ka) = hill
急な丘を登りました。(kyū-na-o-ka-wo-no-bo-ri-ma-shi-ta) = I climbed a steep hill.
頂上 (chō-jō) = the summit (as in, "top of mountain")
谷 (ta-ni) = valley
丘の向こうには美しい谷がある。(o-ka-no-mu-kō-ni-wa-u-tsu-ku-shī-ta-ni-ga-a-ru) = There is a beautiful valley on the other side of the hill. ("...on the hill's other side")
谷川 (ta-ni-ga-wa) = mountain stream
谷川の水は驚くほど冷たかったです。(ta-ni-ga-wa-no-mi-zu-wa-o-do-ro-ku-ho-do-tsu-be-ta-ka-tta-de-su) = The mountain stream water was surprisingly cold.
平ら (tai-ra) = flat (adjective)　になってる　（＝なっている）into
覆われていた (ō-wa-re-te-i-ta) = it was covered
空は雲に覆われていた。(so-ra-ku-mo-ni-ō-wa-re-te-i-ru) = The sky was covered in clouds.
湖は一面氷で覆われている。(mi-zū-mi-wa-i-chi-men-kō-ri-de-o-wa-re-te-i-ru) = The lake is all frozen over.

塔 (tō) = tower
国境 (ko-kkyō) = border
越えた (ko-e-ta) = I crossed
彼女は太平洋を越えてアメリカへ行った。(ka-no-jo-wa-tai-hei-you-wo-ko-e-te-a-me-ri-ka-he-i-tta) = She crossed the Pacific Ocean and went to America. ("...she crossed [...] so that she could arrive in America.")
彼らは国境を越えてドイツに入った。(ka-re-ra-wa-ko-kkyō-wo-ko-e-te-do-i-tsu-ni-ha-i-tta) = They crossed the border and entered Germany. ("..crossed so that they could enter...")
...に接しています (se-sshi-te-i-ma-su) = it borders ... ("it is positioned on the border of ...")
フランスは東はドイツと国境を接する。(fu-ran-su-wa-hi-ga-shi-wa-do-i-tsu-to-ko-kkyō-wo-se-sshi-su-ru) = France borders on Germany to the east. ("France, East, borders on the border with Germany.")
...の真ん中 (...-no-man-na-ka) = the middle of ...

Lesson 6[]

故郷 (ko-kyō) = home / hometown
故郷が恋しい。(ko-kyō-ga-koi-shī) = I am homesick.
都会 (to-kai) = the city
都会が恋しいです。(to-kai-ga-koi-shī-de-su) = I miss the city.
ときには故郷が恋しくなることはありませんか？ (to-ki-ni-wa-ko-kyō-ga-koi-shi-ku-na-ru-ko-to-wa-a-ri-ma-sen-ka) = Don't you sometimes get homesick?
...の方 (hō) = the side of ...
その町は東京の北の方にある。(so-no-ma-chi-wa-tō-kyō-no-ki-ta-no-hō-ni-a-ru) = That town lies to the north of Tokyo. ("That town exists at North Tokyo's side.")
北東 (ho-ku-tō) = north-east
北西 (ho-ku-sei) = north-west
もうこれ以上 (mō-ko-re-i-jō) = any further
歩けない (a-ru-ke-nai) = I cannot walk
もうこれ以上歩けない。(mō-ko-re-i-jō-a-ru-ke-nai) = I cannot walk any further.
学校までは歩いてどれくらいかかりますか？(ga-kkō-ma-de-wa-a-ru-i-te-do-re-ku-rai-ka-ka-ri-ma-su-ka) = How long does it take to walk to school?
彼女は原宿の方に歩いていった。(ka-no-jo-wa-ha-ra-ju-ku-no-hō-ni-a-ru-i-te-i-tta) = She walked towards Harajuku.
新しい場所を歩いて見て回るのが好きです。(a-ta-ra-shī-ba-sho-wo-a-ru-i-te-ma-wa-ru-no-ga-su-ki-de-su) = I like exploring new places on foot. ("I like the act of walking to see to wander around new places.")
都会の生活に疲れてしまった。 (to-kai-no-sei-ka-tsu-ni-tsu-ka-re-te-shi-ma-tta) = I got tired of living in an urban area.

郊外 (kō-gai) = suburbs
南東 (nan-tō) = south-east
南西 (nan-sei) = south-west
道に迷いやすい人だ。(mi-chi-ni-ma-yoi-ya-sui-hi-to-ri-da) = I am a person who gets lost easily.
途中で道に迷わないように、地図を持っていきなさい。(to-chū-de-mi-chi-ni-ma-yo-wa-nai-you-ni chi-zu-wo-mo-tte-i-ki-na-sai) = Take a map so that you do not get lost on the way.
距離 (kyo-ri) = the distance
東京から広島までの距離はどのくらいですか？(tō-kyō-ka-ra-hi-ro-shi-ma-ma-de-no-kyo-ri-wa-do-no-ku-rai-de-su-ka) = What is the distance from Tokyo to Hiroshima.
ホテルは駅から歩いて行ける距離にある。(ho-te-ru-wa-e-ki-ka-ra-a-ru-i-te-i-ke-ru-kyo-ri-ni-a-ru) = The hotel is within walking distance from the station. ("From the station, to walk to go to the hotel, there is distance.")
向けなさい (mu-ke-na-sai) = turn
顔を向けなさい。(ka-wo-wo-mu-ke-na-sai) = turn your face
彼は他の男に注意を向けた。(ka-re-wa-ho-ka-no-o-to-ko-ni-chū-i-wo-mu-ke-ta) = He turned his attention to another man.
