Duolingo Contributors were a group of volunteers who created and maintained several language courses through the Duolingo Incubator. In March, 2021, it was announced that the Contributor program was ending,[1] and today volunteers can no longer apply to become Contributors. [2]
While the Incubator and Contributor program was active, there were several volunteer Contributors working on each language team.[2] Duolingo staff used an algorithm and also personally vetted applicants, who were required to be "bilingual, committed, and passionate" in order to be considered for the spot.[3]
