Dative is the 17th skill in the High Valyrian language course. It has 3 lesson.

Grammar Notes[]

Dative[]

  • The singular dative case is usually formed by adding -t to the singular genitive form.
    • vala = man
    • valo = man's
    • valot = to the man
  • If the possessive is in the form of -ō, shorten the -ō and add -t.
    • āeksio = master
    • āeksiō = master's
    • āeksiot = to the master

Va and Hen[]

  • The interpretation of the preposition va depends on the context
    • Blēnot jā = You go to mountain.
    • Va blēnot jā = You go to into the mountain.
  • Not Using hen for someone leaving city. But use hen for someone leaving the room. (ex. house and room)
    • Vumbiarzot jān = I go to room.
    • Hen vumbiarzot jān = I go out of the room.
