Commands is the 23rd skill in the High Valyrian language course. It las 4 lessons.

Grammar Notes[]

In this unit, we will learn how to use the imperative form of verbs, which is used to make commands.

To form the imperative in singular, it is enough to conjugate the verb in present 3rd person singular of indicative and elongating the last vowel. To form the plural, we follow the stem of the verb adding a similar vowel and put a "t" between these two vowels.

  • Ipradas: He eats.
  • Ipradās! : (You,) eat!
  • Ipradātās! : (You all,) eat!

In some occasions, we will refer to the being we command after the order. To refer to that being, we use the noun in vocative form.

  • 1st-declention words ( words ending in -a, -ar) they end in -us in singular, with the exception of words ending in -ia.
    • Ipradās, ñuhus riñus! : Eat, my girl!
  • 4th-declention words (words ending in -o, -os, -or, -on), they end in -os in singular.
    • Yne rȳbās, Aeksios! : Hear me, Master!
  • 2nd, 3rd and 5th-declention words (with a final -y, -e or -i) ,alongside with lunar words ending in -ia, they end in -ys in singular.
    • Kelīs, kēlys!: Stop, cat!

To order someone not to do something or to express permission instead of command, we use the verb in infinitive form (ending in -gon). When permission is used, the object of permission is in vocative form.

  • ȳdragon daor: Do not talk!
  • Taobus ipradagon: Let the boy eat.
