Hebrew is a West Semitic language with over nine million speakers worldwide.[1] The liturgical language of Jewish people worldwide, it was revived as a spoken language in the 19th century and is an official language of Israel. Modern spoken Hebrew (or ivrit) is the variety taught on Duolingo.
