German Skill:Travel 2

Travel 2 is the thirty-third skill in the German language tree. It has a total of five lessons and teaches more vocabulary relating to vacations, air travel and common German tourist sites.

Grammar Notes[]

Wie, bitte?[]

Remember that a lot of questions in English with "what" in them will have wie ("how") in German:

Wie ist Ihr Flugnummer? = What is your flight number?
Wie ist dein Name? = What is your name?

Was für...?[]

In English, you often say you are looking forsomething or staying for a length of time. In German, the verbs suchen and bleiben are never followed by für:

Ich suche mein Visum. = I'm looking for my visa. (not suche für)
Er bleibt zwei Wochen in New York. = He's staying in New York for two weeks. (not bleibt für)

Contractions[]

A quick note that you use im for locations when the noun following it is masculine or neuter - use in der for feminine ones! The same thing for zum!
