People is the twenty-fifth skill in the language tree for German. It has five lessons and teaches a variety of vocabulary to refer to people, like nationalities, ages and study subjects.
Grammar Notes[]
Ich bin ein Berliner?[]
In German, your nationality does not get an ein in front of it:
- I am an American. = Ich bin Amerikaner(in).
Nationalities (or really most words ending in -er) also are identical in the plural:
- der Amerikaner -> die Amerikaner
Your baby, it's so cute![]
Some words in German that relate to people might be neutral in grammatical gender, and so are referred to as es, or it! Das Kind, das Baby and das Mädchen are some examples in this skill.
