Negatives is the eighteenth (assuming left to right) skill in the German language tree. In these two lessons, the student of German learns how to say "I do not." or other such phrases.

Grammar NotesEdit

German has several different ways of expressing "not." Nicht is used very often, but sometimes kein is necessary.

Kein is placed in the exact same circumstances as ein. It replaces ein or it will be used if there is no article.

Nichts means "nothing." Therefore, do not use it if you mean nicht.

Lesson 1Edit

  • kein = not

Lesson 2Edit

  • keiner = nobody
  • nie = never
  • niemals = never
  • nichts = nothing
