Hotel is the twenty-ninth skill in the German language tree. It teaches some useful vocabulary when booking and staying in a hotel, and it has five lessons.

Grammar Notes

Kein Eins!

If you know how ein works, kein works in the exact same way:

• Ich sehe eine Uhr. -> Ich sehe keine Uhr.
• Das Zimmer hat einen Fernseher. -> Das Zimmer hat keinen Fernseher.

Das funzt nicht!

We've learned two German verbs for "work", arbeiten and funktionieren. Arbeiten is when a person works, like as part of their profession:

• Sie arbeitet im Büro. = She works in the office.

Funktionieren (literally "function") means "work" in the sense of something being successful or doing what it's supposed to:

• Das Internet funktioniert noch. = The Internet still works.
