German Skill:Family 4

Family 4 is the sixty-third skill in the language tree for German. The five lessons in this skill talk about children and common activities in a Kindergarten.

Dativ und Genitiv[]

We've seen the dative case with certain verbs like gehören or danken. This skill reviews that certain prepositions use the dative case as well:

von = from, of
mit = with
seit = since
nach = to
bei = at, by
zu = to

We also begin to learn about the genitive case in this skill. The genitive case shows possession. First, we use it with names, which is very similar to English:

Das sind Marthas Kinder. = Those are Martha's children.
Alex' Tochter heißt Anna. = Alex's daughter's name is Anna.
