Nicht and kein[]
The difference between nicht and kein is that nicht negates verbs and definite nouns (nouns preceded by "the", "this" or "that")...
- Ich mag den Tisch nicht. = I don't like the table.
...while kein negates indefinite nouns (especially ones beginning with "a/an"):
- Ich mag keinen Tisch. = I don't like any tables.
