Demonstratives 1 is the thirteenth skill (assuming read left to right) in the French language tree and has a total of two lessons. It teaches the words for "this", "that", "these" and "those" while also teaching how to express likes and dislikes in French.

Grammar Notes[]

Regular -er Verbs[]

In this skill, the verbs aimer and détester are introduced. Both of these verbs are regular, so we can also give the ending for all regular verbs that end in -er:

Subject Ending Example: aimer
je -e j'aime
tu -es tu aimes
il, elle, ce -e il, elle aime
nous -ons nous aimons
vous -ez vous aimez
ils, elles -ent ils, elles aiment

This or That[]

In French, some words have to preserve euphony, or having a nice sound when it is spoken. The words for "this/that/these/those" are examples of this, with cet being used before a masculine noun that begins with a vowel or a silent h:

Masculine Feminine
Singular ce, cet cette
Plural ces ces
