Luis has actually said that they would not seek to make money from volunteer-created courses anyway (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROYpfA5y25Q&t=9m27s), so their moving away from Immersion as a revenue source in general is not necessarily the reason they aren't adding it for new courses.

That may be true, but Prof Von Ahn, and several staff members have told course contributors that immersion requires considerable resources and they have prioritized Duo for schools, test center and other things (https://www.duolingo.com/comment/6098021). The main reason I added that comment to the immersion document, is that it is the most visible document talking about immersion. I don't want to add direct references to staff saying immersion for new courses is not a priority, because it is in a hidden forum that Duolingo doesn't want made public.
More importantly, we need some way to avoid more questions about "Why isn't immersion in X" course. Linking to the faq for immersion doesn't seem to help, especially now that courses are being added so quickly.Dessamator (talk) 20:49, June 3, 2015 (UTC)
