Arabic

Arabic is an Afro-Asiatic language with around 290 million native speakers.^[1] It's one of the most spoken languages in the world and is one of the 6 UN languages. It's spoken across 27 countries in North Africa, the Middle East, Central and South Asia. It's the main language written in the Quran, the holy book in Islam, and is the language of most early form literature in the early civilizations in the Arabian peninsula. It also expanded via the Arab Empire and the Islamic Gold Age, influencing Spanish as well. [1]^[2]

Windows[]

An Arabic layout can be added within Windows using these instructions.
- 101-key layout for ANSI (e.g. US) keyboards
- 102-key layout for ISO (e.g. UK) keyboards
Google Input Tools for Windows includes an Arabic layout and IME. (Windows 7/Vista/XP only)

Mac OS X[]

Linux[]

SCIM supports Arabic input.

Android[]

Some Android devices include an Arabic keyboard natively; check your device's language or input method settings to see if it does.
Google Keyboard includes an Arabic keyboard.
